Bussa, that was a shackled African had risen to the ranking of head driver on the sugar ranch. The revolution was coordinated at a dance gathering that was held as a way to set up the participants and outline techniques of the planned island-wide revolt.

The revolt began during the night, with cane areas being burned in St. Philip, and also swiftly infected surrounding parishes. Over 70 haciendas were struck, and also the neighborhood militia had actually not yet faced the rebels. This triggered the white proprietors and also movie directors to leave to Bridgetown. The rebellion was ultimately squashed by the British Militia, that included both free Africans and slave labour. However, it did help the source of the abolitionists and also made the colonial elite conscious that enslavement was not lasting.

It should be noted that lots of enslaved people like Danial, that was a skilled cobbler, were captured up in the rebellion without proactively participating or wanting to pass away, and the rebellion caused them fantastic suffering.
